Born in 1983 in France, Cheapset (real name Jess Marty) is a dj producer based in Paris. After almost ten years of learning, he is interested in all styles of music and discovered a certain attraction for electronic composition. His varied influences led him to participate in many diverse art projects, experiencing some aspects of electronic music.
Quickly bored by the « traditional » way of djing and helped by technological changes in audio and midi controllers, he develops his own way to mix, very close to a live performance.
There is no limit on stage while he’s playing hard sets without any concession, and he used to blow-up parties with some great artists from the European electronic scene (such as Mixhell, Zedd, John Lord Fonda,The Micronauts…).
He’s first EP « Sorry Nathan » was directly remixed by Superstrobe (from EXX Records), allowing Cheapset to get involved in all digital-stores.
Cheapset is largely devoted to the production, making a very mental and melodic music carried by powerfull electronic beats. It’s all about nice dark heavy synths and effective rhythm, made for good sub-speakers!
